Words by Innes Reid.

Some of the freshest talent is going to be in Glasgow this summer at TRNSMT festival!

The line up for the recently announced King Tuts stage, powered by Utility Energy, has been unveiled. Some of the acts set to appear on stage over the weekend include: Honne, The LaFontaines, Sundara Karma, Tom Grennan, Saint Motel, The Amazons, Clean Cut Kid, Declan McKenna, Fickle Friends, and The Vryll Society.

Just like many venue’s in Glasgow, King Tuts Wah Wah Hut is iconic. Having being named the “UK’s Best Live Venue” by Radio 1 for 3 years running, it is one of the best places to see musical heroes and discover some of the best new acts in the world. The atmosphere of the place will something that will definitely be captured at TRNSMT in July.

London electronic duo Honne released their debut album Warm on a Cold Night in the summer of 2016 and since then, it has been a quick ascent to the top. Having plenty of festival experience behind them already, its time for Glasgow’s turn. Horne are set to round off the Friday evening (7th July) on the King Tuts stage, the same night as major influences Radiohead are headlining. This is the perfect opportunity for fans to see these rising stars before they hit the big time.

English indie rock four-piece Sundara Karma are set to play on the newly announced stage on Saturday (8th July). The fan favourites only formed in 2015 but are already being compared to the likes of U2 and Springsteen. They dropped their debut album ‘Youth Is Only Ever Fun In Retrospect’ and it certainly did not disappoint, having continuously toured in the early part of 2017.

On Saturday night, local boys The LaFontaines will be headlining the Tuts stage with their unique blend of rock, pop and hip-hop. The 5-piece, fronted by Kerr Okan, recently released powerful single ‘Release The Hounds’, hinting that a new album is in the works. Judging by debut ‘Class’, the bar has been set high for a follow up. Having already sold out venues such as the famous Glasgow Barrowlands, this will certainly not be one to miss.

Bedford-born, London-based singer-songwriter Tom Grennan’s first taste of fame came as a guest vocalist on the Chase & Status track When It All Goes Wrong. Grennan released the EP Something in the Water near the end of 2016, which allowed the 21 year-old to showcase his gritty, soulful vocals alongside syncopated storytelling. Make sure you get down to see him take to the stage on the Sunday night at TRNSMT.
